Chainels and Rockfield have jointly developed the StuNest and The Cohesion tenant apps, digital apps for students and young professionals living in Rockfield communities. These are online spaces designed to make the transition to a new country smoother and more social from day one. When someone moves to a new country to study or work, they are not just changing cities. They are also leaving behind their community, friends and family, and the routines that make them feel at home. Rockfield Real Estate realised that their properties in Amsterdam, Maastricht and Eindhoven had to be more than just a place to live.
Supporting residents before they arrive
The journey begins even before residents set foot in the Netherlands. Through the tenant app, new residents receive all the information they need to prepare for moving day. They can view their check-in times, consult the house rules and find Wi-Fi details, so they know exactly what to expect upon arrival. For many international students and young professionals, access to this simple information makes a big difference. It removes uncertainty and helps them start this exciting new chapter in their lives feeling well-informed, confident and welcome.
Making everyday life simple and connected
Once they have moved in, the tenants’ app becomes part of their daily lives. Residents use it to book shared facilities such as the gym, study rooms and private dining areas. They can sign up for social events, report maintenance issues in their rooms and track their parcel deliveries, all in one place. In addition to the practical aspect, the platforms also play an important social role. Through StuNest and The Cohesion app, residents participate in international welcome drinks, communal dinners and city tours, all organised by Rockfield’s community management team. They can suggest their own activities, connect with community managers and wellbeing partners, and find support networks that make their time abroad more meaningful. What starts as a tool for information becomes a platform for connection.
A smoother experience for both residents and teams
The StuNest and The Cohesion app also help Rockfield’s operational teams work more efficiently. Onboarding, maintenance and parcel management have all become faster and more transparent. Manually onboarding each new resident used to take more than two minutes. Thanks to the integration between Chainels and Rockfield’s property management system, the same process now takes less than two seconds, saving more than fourteen hours during each intake period. Access to parcel lockers via Bringme is now also automated, saving time for community managers and enabling residents to collect their parcels immediately upon arrival. Thanks to these efficiency improvements, teams can spend less time on administration and more time on personal contact with residents.

This collaboration has now been recognised by The Class Foundation, where Chainels has been nominated as a finalist for Best PropTech Solution at the Best in Class Awards 2025.
