Location and area

Minervahaven is located in a dynamic and up-and-coming area the Houthaven Amsterdam, ideal for students who want to enjoy a vibrant environment. The location offers easy access to public transport, shops, and recreational facilities, making it a perfect place to live and study.

Amsterdam’s Houthavens have a rich history dating back to the 19th century. The Oude (Old) Houthaven was dug in 1876, simultaneously with the construction of the North Sea Canal, and was Amsterdam’s first dug-out port.
Since 2010, the area has been radically changing. The Houthavens are now being developed into a modern residential area on seven artificial islands. This new district combines historical elements with contemporary architecture and sustainability. Each island will have its own character, inspired by Amsterdam’s architectural ‘annual rings’, such as canal houses, warehouses and the Amsterdam School.

Apartments

The studios range in size from 20 to 45m² and are fully furnished. Each studio has its own kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen is equipped with a 2-metre-long kitchen worktop, a 2-ring ceramic hob, fridge, extractor fan and plenty of storage space. The modern bathroom has a spacious shower, toilet and a large sink with mirrored wall. The dark brown PVC flooring in the studios provides a warm feel and is easy to keep clean. In addition, the studios are equipped with Wi-Fi and television, so you are immediately provided with all conveniences.

Sustainability

The studios have both underfloor heating and underfloor cooling, so tenants can always set the perfect temperature. This contributes to an energy-efficient and comfortable living environment. Minervahaven is top of its class when it comes to sustainability, giving students an environment-friendly home.
Minervahaven achieved the prestigious BREEAM Excellent certification, attesting to the building’s exceptional sustainability performance. Minervahaven’s sustainability is supported by concrete initiatives and impressive scores. Minervahaven’s final assessment score is 74.7%, giving the building a BREEAM Excellent rating. This score reflects the extensive sustainability and eco-friendliness efforts.
The building features a green courtyard with a rainwater recycling system and is fauna-friendly, including an insect hotel. The west, south and east facades are lined with about 1,700 solar panels, generating enough energy to cover a large part of the building’s energy needs.
In 2021, Minervahaven was awarded the Best Sustainable Student Property award, further underscoring its commitment to sustainability and providing an environmentally friendly living environment for students.
